Cafe Supervisor for Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh

Job Introduction

Heritage Portfolio are looking for a enthusiastic Café Supervisor for Royal Botanic Gardens Edinburgh. After the refurbishment of their two main sites in July 2021, their cafes are now destinations in their own right, set in the most beautiful of surroundings. They are much loved by their regulars for their location and for their tasty salads, soups, hot food and home baking. The emphasis is on fresh, delicious food prepared daily, using local and seasonal produce where possible, including from the Botanic’ s own kitchen garden. Everything produced in their kitchens are made from scratch.

Applicants must be available to work on weekends, 35 to 40 hours per week.

Role Responsibility

  • To assist with the accountability of all aspects of the business, both operational & financial
  • Set and maintain an exceptionally high standard of food service.
  • Create and maintain a working environment which meets all current legislative responsibilities.
  • Ensure effective and acceptable lines of communication between the café and all other catering staff.
  • To ensure the highest standards of cleanliness, tidiness and maintenance in the café at all times.
  • Create and maintain a safe, happy and committed working environment for the café team, with an emphasis on development for all staff.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a similar environment is essential
  • Natural creative and innovative flair with a genuine love of food and an eye for detail
  • Excellent management skills, with a desire to share knowledge and best practises
  • Industry awareness from high street to high end cafes, and be aware of competitors for benchmarking purposes
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Professional, motivated, driven, flexible and enthusiastic
  • Ability to innovate solutions and prioritise workload
