Job Introduction
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an exceptional Business Development Manager to join our Corporate Services segment in the UK&I. You’ll be responsible for helping to drive the CS strategy for growth through new business and cross selling activities and act as the primary representative of the CS Business Development team to develop the sales pipeline.
We are looking for someone to truly provide thought leadership and guidance to perspective customers and CS operations teams in developing commercially attractive relationships with key and target clients.

Role Responsibility
- Acting as a key member of the Corporate Services Business Development team to develop the sales pipeline accordingly through effective client relationship management and the expert use of 'consultative sales' practices to develop deep client insight – in particular identifying stakeholder needs and developing solutions that draw upon a range of Sodexo services and offers
- Develop and maintain a sales pipeline that meets our strategic plan aligned to new business development opportunities. Design solutions that exceed client expectations and create a competitive advantage
- Support external marketing and communications activity through attending appropriate networking, client events and Sodexo events.
- Effective communication to current and prospective clients fostering, deep long term relationships.
- Encouraging innovation and imagination to develop and grow the business beyond core activities
- Manage and update the prioritisation of prospects, including nominating targets, creating compelling tender documents which effectively answer client needs and deliver a clear winning strategy for Sodexo CS in compliance with agreed standards and practices.
- Nurture client relationships in order to stabilise & develop them for the long term.
- Managing the end to end processes with the prospective clients by clear expectations and designing bespoke, sustainable commercial proposals
- Design and execute commercial proposals specific to each client and in compliance with agreed Sodexo governance procedures, standards and practices.
- Prepare and complete proposals and negotiations in partnership with our operational colleagues. Ownership of whole life bid process through to contract handover and mobilisation your delegation of authority and in conjunction with your line manager and colleagues
- Achieve the defined Annual Sales targets and promote Sodexo Health and Safety and Quality standards through the Offer Development
- Continuous upkeep of the sales CRM system
The Ideal Candidate
- An entrepreneurial approach to customer solution design with a deep understanding of developing customer and client needs into compelling value propositions
- Demonstrable track record of developing successful sales and business development strategies across a broad portfolio of target client groups
- Experience of presenting at multiple levels including C-Suite
- Degree or equivalent in a relevant subject Management qualification (ILM, CMI, DMS, NVQ)
- Management and ownership of the total bid process
- Sound knowledge of the industry/client sectors, including a developed knowledge of private sector tends and innovations
- Exceptional client relationship management skills
- Exceptional internal stakeholder management skills
- Excellent communication, influencing and facilitation skills. Will be required to communicate with audiences ranging from large groups to individuals, normally in very senior roles, and excellent inter personal skills are essential.
- High standards of numeracy and written communication, particularly sales/bid copy & PowerPoint
- Experience of managing/leading people
- Ability to assess all the mechanics of business development delivery, financial costs and human and technical resource requirements.
- Externally the person has a key representational role to play on behalf of CS and must be able to establish a high degree of credibility with other parties.
Package Description
Competitive salary of £60,000 - £70,000 depending on experience plus benefits including car allowance, Sodexo Sales Commission Scheme, pension, bonus, flexible benefits scheme.
