Assistant Catering Manager

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for an Assistant Manager to join our catering team at an Independent school, in Cobham, Surrey. Role Responsibility

As an Assistant Manager you will be responsible for:

  • Working with the manager and deputising in his/her absence
  • Motivating, developing and training staff to deliver a consistently high quality standard of service whilst managing the business needs and performance standards
  • Ensuring all aspects of health and safety & food safety are adhered to, particularly allergen management
  • Assisting with recruitment, training and book closures
  • Working as a team member supporting the team at all times but particularly at lunch time and on the counter as required, helping to keep the area clear of waste and food topped up in line with the demands of the business
  • To have special regard to the welfare of the front of house staff, and to assist in taking minutes of all staff meetings & display minutes on staff notice board
  • Oversee functions and ensure all hospitality is delivered on time to the agreed standard
  • Manage near miss reporting in line with due diligence for all aspects of health and safety in the workplace
  • Order all disposables and chemicals and ensure correct stock levels
  • Ensure any maintenance issues are addressed and that the team are fully trained in executing their duties to the required standard by carrying out weekly safety walks
  • Assist café 6 supervisor during daily break and with marketing, till updates & stocktaking & ordering
  • Introduce innovation and trial new products in café 6 and obtain student feedback to enhance and keep the offer fresh
  • Conduct daily ‘huddles’ to keep the team engaged and to communicate any latest Sodexo or school updates
  • Carry out the teams’ personal development reviews

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate for this role will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role/environment
  • Hospitality and fine dining experience (training will be given)
  • Excellent people skills, able to motivate, lead and develop a team
  • Good communication skills - written and verbal
  • Flexible with working hours 5/7
  • Passion about food and good customer service
  • Good financial acumen and IT skills
  • High standards and quality driven

Package Description

We are looking for an Assistant Manager who is passionate about serving good quality food in a busy school environment. The successful candidate must be able to work well as a team and build a good relationship with the client, customers and team alike.

£24,200 - £25,200, 40 hours per week, 5/7 days per week, working 40 weeks per year.
