Architectural Technician

Job Introduction

We’re looking for an accomplished and experienced Architectural Technician to join our Hard FM team based in Aberdeen with a national remit across all sectors and segments.

In this newly created position, you’ll be involved in a diverse range of projects from schools & uni’s, sports stadiums, hospitals, prisons and even offshore facilities you’ll be challenged and stimulated with no two weeks being the same. You won’t be confined to an office with client and site visits forming an element of your role and the opportunity to complete your offshore certificates to service our energy and resource customers.

Joining a team of Architect’s, PM’s and Commercial Surveyors you’ll establish yourself as a technical expert and not only adding value to the Hard FM team, your role will also enable Sodexo to secure a future pipeline of work with 3D visualisations being a key feature to bids

Role Responsibility

  • To deliver creative and cost effective architectural services to all Sodexo clients.
  • To promote and drive the growth, dynamics and development of an Architectural service across each client segment within the Sodexo UK & I business.
  • To provide clients with innovative and informative designs, construction and as-built drawing records of facilities, to assist with their business, workplace strategy and real estate requirements.
  • To meet or exceed client’s expectations and aspirations for their workplace. 
  • To design safe and serviceable solutions, with consideration during all stages of design and construction in accordance with relevant Building Regulations and HSE guidelines.
  • To monitor and manage costs of resources, materials, contractors and architectural fees in order to provide value to clients and maximise profitability.
  • To provide assistance and expert Architectural conceptual design and advice to Commercial Bid / Operations in order to win new projects / contract tenders
  • Undertake high quality 3D visualisations in order support any bid. Tender or BAU projects in order to assist with growth of the segments / organisations

The Ideal Candidate

  • Degree qualified Architectural Technician (or relevant degree) with membership to registered bodies
  • Strong knowledge of UK Building Regulations
  • Knowledge of building technology and capability, including IT systems
  • Ability to manage a project from start to finish
  • Experience of being project lead within role
  • Experience of large interior fit-out projects
  • Robust contracting and procurement skills
  • Proficient IT skills including all Microsoft systems and presentation software such as Photoshop/In-design
  • Proficient in architectural drawing packages such as AutoCAD, Revit, Sketch-up etc
  • Ability to undertake 3D visualisations and rendering would be highly advantageous
  • Experience / knowledge of BIM
  • Able to demonstrate excellent team player who can respect and work within the Sodexo behaviours and values which demand openness, honesty, trust, mutual respect and support for all team members
  • Ability to take an analytical approach to problem solving
  • Strong knowledge of current Health & Safety guidelines – i.e. CDM Regulations
