Job Introduction
An opportunity has arisen for an apprentice to join our Sodexo Catering teams within Macclesfield and Alderley Park. Working with Sodexo will open many avenues of progression and provide the opportunity to start working in a prestigious Catering and Facilities Management organisation.
The scheme is supported by ‘HIT Chef Academy’ who are specialist training providers and provide expert support. You will be line managed within the Sodexo account and have fixed term contract until the end of your apprenticeship, at which time efforts will be made by the Senior Leadership Team to actively place you into a role through the account succession plan system.
The apprenticeship will run for a period of 4 years. During this time, you will cover a broad base of competency training with successive placements across the account in different areas to bring your skill level up to the required standard. In the 4th year you will be placed into an area which is deemed likely that a position will become vacant to the end of the apprenticeship.
Role Responsibility
Led by our Catering Team leaders and working with and alongside our Chef’s, you will be involved with both hot & cold food production and service, across our Main Restaurants & Deli Counters. Your main duties will consist of but not be limited to: Preparation and service of a full cooked Breakfast Assisting our Chef and the wider Catering team with fresh food preparation, working to recipe cards and a menu cycle, assisting in the preparation of our daily Salad Bar Supporting the planning & production of our fresh daily baguette offer Fresh season produce will be used, so you should be passionate about food quality & presentation. Various cooking processes will be used, so an understanding of different cooking methods and procedures will be required to support our Chef’s with food orders and stock. General kitchen compliance / processes use all our catering equipment such as blenders, mixers, slicers, fryers, combination ovens, steamers, grills, induction hobs, hot counters & bain-marie's etc, (subject to age), so a mature attitude towards working safely is essential

The successful candidate ideally should understand the services involved, be well presented, have good communication skills, have a hands-on approach, flexibility and the ability to use own initiative when necessary, be able to build good relationships with team and client alike,
