Afternoon Chef Supervisor

Job Introduction

  • We are looking for a Chef to Prepare, Cook and Provide food for upwards of 120 Students.
  • Supervise a small team to safely deliver the service required.
  • Working 35.5 Hours Per week.
  • 1pm – 7.30pm Monday to Friday
  • 3.30pm – 6.30pm Saturday Evening (3 Saturday’s each month, excluding school holidays.
  • £11 per Hour. 37.6 weeks per year. (School Term Time) Pay equated.
  • This position will require an Enhanced DBS Certificate to commence.

Role Responsibility

  • To deputize for the Head Chef And Catering Manager in their absence.
  • Assist with staff allocation of work duties.
  • Assist in the ordering, control and correct storage of food stuffs.
  • Reporting of defects to the Catering Manager and Head Chef.
  • To maintain and manage the required high operational and personal standard of hygiene and presentation within the team at all times.
  • Compliance by you and your team to the Health and Safety Act, HACCP and COSHH regulations.
  • Ensure that the team adhere to the correct disposal and storage of all food items as directed by the Catering Manager and Head Chef
  • Ensure that the kitchen area that you are working in is clean and hygienic at all times.
  • Ensure that the handing over procedures and opening up /closing down procedures are complied to, with emphasis on safety.
  • To continue to develop own skills / knowledge within the position.
  • Develop the skills and Knowledge of you team.
  • To assist in other local units as may be necessary in an emergency
  • To attend meetings and training courses as required.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Must have one of the following qualifications or equivalent:-
  • City and Guilds 706/1 and 2, NVQ level 2  and possess a level 3 food safety certificate.
  • Good communication skills, must be able to demonstrate effective verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of health & safety and food safety.
  • Able to work on own initiative within a team environment.
  • Able to demonstrate attention to detail and adherence to standards.

Desirable

  • Proven track record of employment within the catering industry.
  • Experience of working in a Mass Catering environment.
  • NVQ 1 and 2 Preferably or City and Guilds
  • Good interpersonal skills, calm nature
  • DBS Update Service (Enhanced Check) This will be applied for by us if not already in position.
