Weekend Chef

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit a Weekend Chef Supervisor to assist in the preparation of all foods required for patients, staff and visitors at Ferryfield House Community Hospital, Edinburgh - ensuring food services are delivered to the correct standards and within the agreed specification.

You will ensure that all foods are produced in a safe and hygienic manner at all times whilst being responsible for the small, friendly weekend team and ensuring completion of some administration.

The site has free car parking and access to great transport links.  

Role Responsibility

• Prepare all foods required for patient, staff and visitor food services, providing for varying dietary requirements
• Ensure stock control and rotation procedures are maintained
• Complete all audit and quality standards documentation as required
• Monitor all wastage and take remedial action following the agreed process
• Assist the management when required with planning menu’s, theme day menus rota’s, orders, receiving, checking and storing deliveries as requested
• Maintain a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness in the food preparation and service areas at all times paying attention to the Health and Safety regulations
• Have the ability to be flexible and adaptable when the need arises and have the confidence to make sound business decisions
• Occasionally be able to work during week days to cover annual leave.

• Qualified chef
• Ability to understand detailed instructions
• Understanding and adherence to current legislation at all times
• Ability to allocate resources effectively
• Good communication skills, with the ability to develop and build good customer relationships

Desirable

• Supervisory experience
• Food hygiene certificate level 2 or above
• IOSH
