Waste Operations Manager at GSK Stevenage

Job Introduction

Sodexo requires an experienced Waste Management professional, with knowledge of hazardous waste and waste operations to support the management, co-ordination and control of waste management contract activity across the £2 million GSK UK contract.

 

The role supports the waste management needs of all GSK R&D and Corporate sites in the UK. It requires an individual that is a self-starter, confident, and resourceful.  The successful candidate will need to possess sound analytical and computer skills as well as having the ability to communicate with a wide range of Sodexo and GSK staff.

This role will be based at one of our key R&D sites (Stevenage or Ware), however, you will be required to travel to other GSK sites in the area.

 

 

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure the safe and compliant delivery of waste management services across all GSK R&D and Corporate sites
  • Financial and performance management of the waste operations contracts
  • Delivery of the contractual glide path for the Waste Management service line
  • Management of client relationships and expectations. Maintain formal and informal communications with Clients and Customers
  • Maintain and develop a positive working culture and environment for GSK and Sodexo  employees through sound leadership, effective communication and delegation
  • Direct reports include 18 to 20 supplier staff
  • Provide expert waste advice to all GSK waste producers, in conjunction with the waste contractor
  • Delivery of the Innovation Programme through self-implemented projects and projects delivered by Sodexo’s appointed supplier
  • Accessing the Sodexo SME support and best practice; ensuring all developments in GSK are widely shared and understood

The Ideal Candidate

  • Relevant experience in Waste Management Operations (5yrs +)
  • Extensive knowledge of all aspects of  UK waste regulations
  • Qualification in Waste Management
  • Qualification in ISO Lead Auditing
  • Experience of managing an outsourced service contract
  • Enhanced computer skills (principally Word & Excel)
