Role Responsibility

  • Working as part of a team to provide planned and reactive maintenance services for the site
  • Keep appropriate records and up-date PPM plans
  • Deal with resident enquiries
  • Handle post and parcel collections
  • To follow arrival and departure procedures
  • Face to face contact with students and members of the public
  • Attend any necessary training courses

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Title:                                                   Caretaker

Scope and General Purpose:      To maintain the security of the school, carry out general maintenance and maintain a clean environment in line with contract specifications and to the standards laid down by Sodexo.

                                                         

Responsible to:                              Site Services Manager

 

Responsible for:                             All areas within Scope of Duties

 

To liaise with:                                  Sodexo, Client and Teaching Staff

                                                                          

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • The routine and non-routine opening and closing of the school premises and grounds at times specified by the Site Services Manager.      
  • Maintaining security and preventing trespass on the school premises and grounds.
  • Carrying out security patrols of the school and grounds in accordance with company procedures.
  • Responding to burglar alarm “call outs” and other emergency “call outs” as required.
  • Day to day checks and maintenance to plant rooms and equipment.
  • Day to day monitoring of building management system (BMS) and any subsequent remedial action identified by the BMS.
  • Day to day checks and replacement of light bulbs, tubes and plugs etc throughout the school.
  • Reading and recording of gas, water electric meter readings.
  • Day to day maintenance of the school grounds, playgrounds and sports pitches.
  • Day to day maintenance and repairs throughout the whole school and reporting of faults that requires action by outside contractors.
  • Day to day routine cleaning tasks as identified by Site Services Manager, and responding to emergency cleaning tasks.
  • Supervision of cleaning operatives and allocation of work areas when required.
  • To ensure all stores and cleaning cupboards are kept clean and locked at all times.
  • To control and issue all cleaning equipment and materials within budget limits.
  • Responsible for ensuring adequate stocks of toilet consumables are maintained.
  • Set up areas for special functions in and outside of normal school hours ensuring health and safety is maintained at all times.
  • Liasing with visiting contractors and escorting them to areas of work as identified by the Site Services Manager.
  • Conveying of post and parcels to and from point of distribution.
  • Removal and setting up of furniture in different locations throughout the school.
  • Responsible for the safe custody of school keys.
  • To assist the Site Services Manager in maintaining Health and Safety, and responding to emergency Fire Evacuation procedures when implemented.
  • To monitor and control car parking and report to the Site Services Manager any unauthorised vehicles.
  • Assist in supervision when required of the school bus area in-conjunction with the school.
  • Complete and return all company administration forms daily/weekly, which are utilised on site to ensure operational standards are maintained to the Site Services Manager.
  • To attend training course and meetings as requested.
  • To assist the Site Services Manager in induction of new staff.
  • To establish and maintain working relationships with individuals at all levels within Sodexho and the client organisation.
  • To respond to any other reasonable request made by the Site Services Manager.
