Sales Director - North

Job Introduction

We have a fantastic opportunity for someone to join Sodexo as Sales Director for our Sports and Leisure business. This role is responsible for achieving conference and event sales objectives in Scotland and Northern England. You will manage and support the venue Sales Managers in this region, to achieve individual venue objectives and establish a high-performing and engaged sales team. In addition you will support the continuous development and growth of the Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events proposition, particularly in the conference and event market.

Sodexo Sports & Leisure work with some of the most well-known, loved and iconic ‘brands’ across sports stadia, racecourses, cultural destinations and major events such as Aberdeen Football Club, Everton Football Club, Ascot Racecourse, Hamilton Park Racecourse, Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, The Open and RHS Chelsea Flower Show.  We provide catering, retail, conference & event  and hospitality services in over 50 venues and events across the UK that form the Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events portfolio

 

 

Role Responsibility

  • Develop and implement a targeted sales plan that is fully aligned with the UK sale strategy
  • Lead sales initiatives to drive revenue during underperforming periods and to help underperforming venues
  • Proactively manage key account performance and implement activities to drive new enquiries to venues
  • Work closely with the Central Enquiry Hub and central marketing team to increase awareness, drive new enquiries and support conversion
  • Identify and develop new customers and key accounts
  • Monitor regional competitor activity and customer behaviour
  • Conduct business review meetings on a monthly basis with key regional stakeholders to ensure objectives and activities are aligned
  • Ensure venue sales managers maintain and grow revenue and market share for their venues based on clear objectives and targets
  • Turnaround underperforming sales teams/contracts by identifying key issues, developing a clear action plan and helping to implement agreed actions with the respective venue management teams
  • Conduct regional sales meetings with venue sales managers to ensure objectives and activities are aligned
  • Support business development on tenders (e.g., due diligence, bid documentation and presentations) including conferences and events

The Ideal Candidate

  • Significant experience in direct sales, preferably in hotel, venue or hospitality sales
  • Keen commercial acumen to grow and maximise sales in a highly target driven environment
  • Proven track record in recruiting, developing, managing and engaging a successful and high-performing sales team
  • Self-starter who can work independently in a large and complex business environment 
  • Ability to align and influence different stakeholders and work alongside other functions to achieve collective business objectives
  • Experience in implementing best practice and innovation in a sales team environment
  • Confident and articulate public speaker and negotiator with excellent written communication skills
  • Highly structured, organized, detail-oriented and analytical
  • Experience in budget management and measuring sales performance
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (PowerPoint, Excel and Word)
  • Willingness to travel
