SHE Advisor

Job Introduction

Sodexo are currently recruiting for an experienced SHE Advisor to be based on a client’s site (AstraZeneca) in Cambridge with travel to other sites; predominantly around the Cambridge area, London and Luton. The SHE, Quality & Compliance team provides support to the UK operational teams working on the AZ account in all areas of safety, health risk, environment and quality. This is an important role which provides wide exposure to management, provides a unique opportunity to learn the company’s varied and diverse activities and has great opportunities for future career progression. You must hold H&S qualification (NEBOSH) and have excellent report writing and analytical skills. Some quality experience and working in the FM (facilities management) industry would also be very beneficial. Experience in the pharmaceutical industry would be advantageous but is not essential.

Role Responsibility

  • Formulate, implement, monitor and review health and safety action plans to ensure the contract operations comply with best practice and legislative requirements
  • Promote and develop a Safety culture which secures effective implementation of policy, procedures and responsibilities throughout the Sodexo operational delivery at the Cambridge and Southern AZ sites
  • Monitor the SSoW and Permit System across the contract at the AZ Cambridge and Southern sites
  • Provide a high level of operational service support to management and operational staff, establishing specific requirements, identifying and facilitating the resolution of all specific issues to add value to operations.
  • Support the review and development of method statements and risk assessments
  • Ensure consistent application and communication of Sodexo H&S and Environmental policies, procedures, practices and initiatives, while referring to site senior management.
  • Facilitation of risk register preparation and assisting sites in their development.
  • Management of near misses, accidents and RIDDOR investigations, and follow up actions
  • Providing proactive support to sites and reactive support following External audits and RIDDOR accidents
  • Liaise with the UK SHE Advisor to ensure common practices are maintained and cover is provided.

 

The Ideal Candidate

 

Essential

  • Health and safety qualification – NEBOSH Certificated minimum
  • Good background in auditing.
  • Reporting: Ability to write persuasive and effective reports and communications, which clearly define findings and their causes, and recommendations made.
  • Analytical Skills: Must possess strong analytical skills. The ability to systematically gather information from a variety of sources, analyze information, identify implications of data, draw appropriate conclusions, generate viable alternative solutions to a question or problem, and evaluate the consequences of choosing each alternative.
  • Excellent communications skills (verbal and written) are required.

  • Practical experience of working in facilities management areas – hard and soft disciplines.
