QHSE Manager

Job Introduction

Sodexo are recruiting for a QHSE Manager to work in our Defence segment. This role is based mainly at Colchester with additional cover for a number of other main sites in Suffolk and south England. The successful candidate will implement and promote adherence to Sodexo’s Integrated Management System. This will include implementing Quality, Health, Safety and environmental best practice, across all service delivery platforms within Sodexo. This will also involve promoting compliance with current H&S legislation, approved codes of practice and company policies and procedures.

The successful candidate will have one direct report. This role would suit a H&S Manager with good people skills; a Level 6 Safety qualification and remote site management experience. Hard FM experience or transferrable skills from a similar environment would also be ideal. Role Responsibility

  • Maintain management system to ISO 9001:2008;  ISO 18001; ISO 14001, BS 11000
  • Develop and lead the operation and promotion of an integrated management system. This will include encompassing a pro-active environmental, health and safety culture across the regions.
  • Report on the performance of the IMS system at Management review meetings and use this as a forum for any improvements.
  • Maintain the Business Continuity Plan
  • Act as risk champion
  • Undertake environmental health and safety planning. This will include the setting of goals, agreeing priorities and establishing systems for performance management.
  • Assist our L&D Manager in the delivery of comprehensive operational technical training to promote; develop and sustain a positive Health and Safety awareness culture throughout business operations
  • Provide appropriate accident investigation methodology to ensure personal management accountability and improve risk management. This will include monitoring and interpretation of statistical data and creation of a monthly report
  • Management of collaborative client relationships and expectations relevant to the job role. Maintain formal and informal communications with clients, Sodexo Defence HSE Executive, Defence Quality Lead, sub contractors and customers.
  • Compliance to all company/contract, documentation, audits and administration procedures are carried out to the company standard
  • Legislative compliance, ensuring that all HSE aspects of the business are conducted in accordance with all relevant statutory requirements and Codes of Practice

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Level 6 Safety Qualification
  • Managing safety in a similar environment
  • Able to demonstrate achievement of continuous improvement in the workplace
  • Certificate level environmental qualification
  • Internal auditor in an ISO standard
  • IT Literate
  • Good organisational and communication skills and production of concise information.
  • Ability to prioritise, work to tight deadlines, both prescribed and self – imposed.
  • Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships at all levels.
  • Must have a driving licence

Desirable

  • Management experience
  • Experience in hard FM safety including CDM
  • Level 4 Food Safety Qualification (or to be met within 6 months)
  • Responsibility for a management system operation
  • CMIOSH

 

Other information

  • Travel and overnight stay maybe required to undertake site audits, training and other business requirements
  • May be required to work unsociable hours in line with business requirements
  • Flexibility on work schedule will be required at times
