Portering Managers

Job Introduction

This is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your operational management career on-site within a hospital environment. Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust require experienced managers to oversee the Portering services at two of their hospitals in Hammersmith and Paddington. Managing a team of around 70 including Assistant Managers, Supervisors and frontline Porters, these roles ensure a vital service is delivered around the clock to exceptional standards.

Role Responsibility

  • Take accountability for delivering a high quality, timely, responsive, cost-effective and pro-active portering service to meet the needs of the wards and departments.
  • Manage and deliver effective and efficient services that meet contract obligations, KPIs and agreed Trust and company policies and procedures
  • Lead and motivate a large diverse workforce
  • Review and plan service improvements in a vibrant and demanding NHS environment – improved services at lower cost
  • Ensure that patients, materials and equipment are safely and appropriately transferred around the hospital to the standard required by the Client and Sodexo, as set out in the Service Level Agreement.
  • Direct patients, staff and visitors to all areas of the hospital.
  • Ensure the hospital has a reputation for its high quality portering service

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Proven experience of managing a complex service with a diverse workforce in a customer or patient service environment
  • Proven experience of managing a successful P&L account
  • Ambition and resilience in management and work ethic
  • A strong manager with proven ability to lead, motivate, inspire and support a diverse team
  • An effective communicator (both verbal and written)
  • Flexible approach to role

Desirable

  • Hospital experience
  • Proven IT skills
  • Contract and project management skills
