Operations Manager (Laboratory and R&D)

Job Introduction

This is a unique opportunity and one which will allow you to utilise your skills and grow this area within Sodexo. As the Zone Manager you will be mostly focused on the laboratory operation and management. You will ensure the successful delivery of IFM operations based at AstraZeneca in Macclesfield.  You will also assist with developing the reputation of Sodexo Scientific Services and growing the business.

Role Responsibility

  • Accountable for leading a team in the service delivery of both technical and soft services
  • Management of the R&D Operation on site and a large team including managers.
  • To deliver an ethos that promotes IFM with value focused on the customer and service to support the AstraZeneca operational success.
  • Implement the site asset management strategy and delivery of asset maintenance
  • Ensure effective asset lifecycle management for buildings, facilities and equipment for a given area.
  • The role holder will be the nominated as accountable person and building manager for all buildings in their nominated area.
  • Responsible for building management SHE activities, such as SSOW, BOSHE, environmental risk assessments and accurate asset information.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Member of professional FM and/or engineering organisations e.g. BIFM or  IMechE,
  • A highly customer focused leader, motivating and driving performance in teams to deliver high standards of service and cost effectiveness.
  • The role holder will have a sound understanding of pharmaceutical scientific process in research and development
  • The role holder will have a sound grasp of all the services delivered by FM and will understand their impact on customers
  • Capability of leading multi-functional technician teams in a regulated environment where asset performance is a business critical requirement
  • The role holder will have a well-developed knowledge of maintenance processes,
  • Understanding best practice and the effective deployment of maintenance strategies in technically complex customer environments
  • Experience of integrated risk management
  • Ability to manage engineering risks, hazards and controls.
  • Full understanding of GxP, SHE and other regulatory obligations applicable to asset management
