Network Technician (VMware)
Job Introduction
This is an exciting opportunity to join our IS&T team based at our offices in Salford Quays. You will administer; operate, implement and maintain properly engineered network services and products to meet the needs of the business. You will maintain and secure all aspects of infrastructure necessary to ensure the availability of network services to meet business operations. Role Responsibility
- Primarily the role holder will manage will build, config, support and monitor all aspects of VMWare environments
- You will operate and administer other network services covering voice, video and data services to support the requirements and business operations.
- You will support the day-to-day operation and administration; support and control of all equipment within the network infrastructure, including the Data Centre
- Complete and maintain tasks and jobs to support business functions as held in HEAT
- You will build and configure servers; storage; switches routers and all other such network activities as necessary
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- Virtualization: VMWare : ESX 5 or higher; vSphere; vCentre and Hyper-V 2008/2012
- Sound and demonstrable technical skills in network engineering/design and AD
- Knowledge and experience of the MS server (2008/2012) OS and enterprise deployment
- Ability to work outside normal office hours as project work/patching dictates
- Experience with the following systems: MS Server 2008/12,Active Directory & WSUS
- Experience in the following: Switches, Routers, Servers, Cables, Firewalls, LAN, WAN, TCP/IP, DNS, UDP, Latency, VoIP.
- Must hold Full UK driving License
Desirable
- VMWare qualification
- MSCE or equivalent
- Cisco networking certification (CCNA)
Other information
·The role will be based in the Sodexo offices in Salford. Occasional travel to Rochdale or other Sodexo offices will be required, particularly outside office hours
- Must be willing to work weekends when required
·The UK IS&T function is part of the wider Sodexo Global IS&T organisation
·Expected to adhere to Information Security Policy
