Network Engineer (VMware)
Job Introduction
This is an exciting opportunity to join our IS&T team based at our offices in Salford Quays. You will administer; operate, implement and maintain properly engineered network services and products to meet the needs of the business. You will maintain and secure all aspects of infrastructure necessary to ensure the availability of network services to meet business operations. Role Responsibility
- Operation and administration of network services, covering voice, data, text, e-mail, fax and image, to support the requirements and business operations.
- The day-to-day operation and administration, support and control of all equipment within the network infrastructure, including the Data Centre
- Joining a dedicated team, the Network Engineer will be working in a broad position that encompasses implementation and project work, as well as working on escalated faults and issues relating to firewalls, Routers and VPNs, often as a result of configuration or connectivity issues.
- Complete and maintain tasks and jobs to support business functions as held in HEAT
- Build and configure servers; storage; switches routers and all other such network actives as necessary
The Ideal Candidate
Essential
- Sound and demonstrable technical skills in network engineering/design and AD
- Experience of installation and management of VMware
- Knowledge and experience of the MS server OS and enterprise deployment
- Ability to work outside normal office hours as project work/patching dictates and at any location within the UK & Ireland that Sodexo operates as is necessary
- Must have : Clean CRB and have or be working to achieve clearance for IL3 systems
Desirable
- MSCE or equivalent
- Cisco networking certification
- Sound knowledge of the Sodexo business and particularly at the level of unit mobilisation
Other Information
- The role will be based in the Sodexo offices in Salford. Occasional travel to Rochdale or other Sodexo offices will be required, particularly outside office hours
- Expected to adhere to Information Security Policy
