Mess Manager (Hospitality)

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Mess Manager with a knowledge of Hospitality, to perform and supervise the day to day activities in our onsite mess.

In this role you will be responsible for managing functions including planning, menus and costing’s and ensuring your team are fully engaged and motivated in order to deliver the high standards of service required.

Liaising with customers, clients and the mess committee to develop relationships and promote Sodexo’s brand is a big part of this role. If you are confident and hands on with good leadership qualities, this is a fantastic opportunity for you.

Role Responsibility

  • Efficient management of the Mess including daily catering, functions (hospitality), monthly events and accommodation services for military mess members
  • Ensuring that we deliver high quality food service to all mess members and customers
  • Managing the team to ensure a smooth and efficient service delivery
  • Control and monitor the financial performance of the unit and to maintain costs within pre-budgeted targets
  • Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard as per service level agreement, Company policy and current legislation.
  • Establish and maintain satisfactory relationships with individuals at all levels within the Company and the Client organisation
  • Implement and maintain the Statutory and Company standards of hygiene, health and safety and take any action as is necessary.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within hospitality
  • Knowledge of catering and hotel services
  • Good financial awareness
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to build good relationships with clients
  • Experience of managing a team within a catering environment
  • Proven experience with stock management, cash control and customer service
  • Able to demonstrate working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene and Health & Safety

Desirable

  • City & Guilds 1 & 2 Catering or NVQ equivalent
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team
  • Experience of working in a military environment

Package Description

Predominantly Monday – Friday, usual business hours. Occasional evening and weekend work, depending on special events and functions.

Successful candidates will need to pass security clearance. You must be a UK resident for at least 3 years.
