Mess Manager (Catering and Hospitality)

Job Introduction

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Mess Manager (Hospitality/Catering) to perform and supervise the day to day activities in our onsite mess at one of our defence contracts.

You will promote and manage functions including planning, menus and costing in conjunction with the catering team - ensuring standards of service are achieved, maintained and developed.

Role Responsibility

  • Demonstrate capabilities for the smooth running of the Mess, to the benefit of all members and residents
  • Efficient management of the Mess including daily catering and functions (hospitality)
  • Ensuring that we deliver high quality food service to all mess members and customers
  • Managing the team to ensure a smooth and efficient service delivery
  • Ensure all food is prepared to a high standard as per service level agreement, company policy and current legislation
  • Implement and maintain the Statutory and Company standards of hygiene, health and safety and take any action as is necessary.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Proven experience in hospitality sector, including stock management, cash control and customer service
  • Proven experience of working to high level budgets
  • Experience of managing a team
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to  build good relationships with clients
  • Working knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Knowledge of Food Hygiene and Health & Safety

Desirable

  • Experience of working in a military environment
  • IOSH and CIEH qualifications or equivalent
  • Proven experience of managing client relationships
  • Proven track record of leading, managing and developing a team.

Package Description

Predominantly Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week - but occasional evening/weekend work will be required depending on events and functions. Flexibility is a must.
