Graphic Designer

Job Introduction

Sodexo are a global facilities management business, currently the 18th largest employer worldwide and employing approximately 420,000 people. We provide a range of services across the public and private sectors, from reception, security, energy management and catering. Now looking to recruit a Graphic Designer for an initial 6 month contract but may have the opportunity to be extended or made permanent.

Role Responsibility

This role is responsible for creating bid design solutions that have a high visual impact. The role involves listening to the business solutioning managers and Sodexo’s prospective clients and understanding their needs before making design decisions.  You will develop creative ideas and concepts, choosing the appropriate media and style to meet the client's objectives. The role demands creative flair, up-to-date knowledge of industry software and a professional approach to time, costs and deadlines.

  • Work closely with the bid manager, BSM’s, bid solution leaders, bid managers and coordinators to discuss the business objectives and requirements of the tender
  • Interpret Sodexo client's business needs and developing a design concept to suit their purpose and the various different stages of a tender process from PQQ to RFP designs, presentations and site visits
  • Estimate the time required to complete the work and liaising with the bid coordinator / manager to ensure the overall timescales for the project at met
  • Where appropriate, liaise with external design companies and printers, commissioning illustrators and photographers and providing quotes for any external design support or materials required
  • Think creatively to produce new ideas and concepts for bid documents, presentations and site visit booklets
  • Present finalised ideas and concepts to business solutioning managers
  • Proof reading to produce accurate and high-quality work
  • Demonstrate illustrative skills with rough sketches
  • Work on layouts and art working pages ready for print
  • Continually look or better ways to create tenders and communicate ideas in a candid and consistent manner
  • Demonstrate appreciation of diverse thoughts and perspectives and encourage and accept feedback and conflicting opinions
  • Support the bid team with the technical capability to ensure the layout of the documents is correct and to a high standard
  • Work with BidNet manager to ensure latest design standards are reflected in BidNet portal as well image libraries etc.
  • Establish and maintain a professional rapport with external printers and agencies, over the production of material
  • Develop and use computer manipulation techniques on a wide range of base materials, including photographs, to provide colour correction, image enhancement and as necessary, image creation.
  • Keep abreast of emerging technologies in new media through workshops, professional publications and societies, particularly design programmes such as Adobe Creative Suite, Flash and JQuery.
  • Work as part of a team with bid co-ordinators / managers, bid writers, other designers, business solutioning managers, BidNet manager and marketing specialists to generate market leading/winning bids
  • Manage more than one design brief at a time and allocate the relevant amount of time according to the value of the job.
  • Work with the bid manager and bid production leaders in development of E2E bid process to get best return on graphic design investment

The Ideal Candidate

  • Skilled in using a variety of industry standard packages including; Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Bridge, Acrobat), Flash and others as required such as Muse and JQuery.
  • Ability to create complex presentations using latest versions of MS PowerPoint, plus a good working knowledge of current versions of MS Word and MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication skills in order to interpret and negotiate briefs with business solutioning managers
  • Experience of working in a corporate/business focused environment

Package Description

£28,000 - £30,000 + 15% bonus + benefits
