HMP Peterborough is the first purpose-built prison in the UK to house both men and women on the same site.  This highly innovative prison is designed to a high standard of physical security. Sodexo Justice Services has ensured that the prison provides needs-based personal development services for both men and women.  January 2015 saw the completion of a new houseblock on the male estate which can house an additional 292 residents, along with an educational activities building.

Our work aims to facilitate offenders’ reintegration into the community, through the provision of education, employment and resettlement opportunities.

As Finance Administrator, you will provide support to the Head of Business Management and the Deputy Business Manager to take the finance department forward to provide the quality of services to internal and external stakeholders whilst making sure that demanding targets are met.

The role involves both the commitment and the ability to manage the work effectively to the standards as required.

Role Responsibility

  • Record all new receptions on the system accurately and timely
  • Process and respond to any complaints and applications
  • Ensure all monies are collected and recorded accurately
  • Prepare all discharge monies on prisoner release
  • Raise cheques to be forwarded to other prisons and enter on the system
  • Process received cheques from other prisons
  • Enter PIN phone numbers and monitor spend
  • Input prisoner wages and loans on to the system
  • Provide support to team members and flexibility to adopt to any other duties that may be deemed appropriate to this role
  • Ensure swift and timely resolution to all finance related queries
  • Maintain valuables and cash records and safeguarding valuables & cash through robust control system & reconciliation process

The Ideal Candidate

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (particularly Outlook and Excel).
  • Effective inter-personal and communication skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative and meet targets, and to respond effectively to changing priorities
  • Strong organisational skills
  • A good eye for detail

 

Highly Desirable

  • Proven experience in a finance and/or prison environment
  • Relevant administrative or finance qualifications.

 

Package Description

£17,760.51 plus benefits including 224 hours (28 days) holiday (inclusive of bank holidays), discounted health cover, subsidised gym membership, childcare voucher scheme, free meals on duty and free on-site parking.
