Deputy Portering & Security Manager

Job Introduction

We help to enhance the patient environment (including patient dining, cleaning/housekeeping, retail services), provide clinical support (diagnostic pathology as part of a joint venture, equipment sterilisation) and manage technical estates teams (estates management, asset management, land maintenance and energy management).

We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Deputy Portering & Security Manager to assist the management team within the logistics department. You will take full control for the Management, training, rostering, motivation and discipline of the portering teams, ensuring that the service complies with all contract specifications.

Role Responsibility

  • Manage 3 direct reports
  • Ensuring a roster is in place to adequately cover all portering departments, and that all hours are within budget
  • Make sure all portering requests are completed within the appropriate time scale as dictated in our service level agreements
  • Investigate and provide reports for all Datix, complaints and service failures, provide lessons learnt and implement actions if required
  • Maintain Kronos time management system, uploading the weekly roster, recording holidays and resolving any anomalies on a daily basis
  • Carry out return to work interviews, arrange and complete sickness reviews once triggered
  • Sign and check all agency hours on a weekly basis, making sure all names are enrolled on Kronos
  • Ensure all new staff are given the appropriate induction and that training needs are identified with an appropriate plan implemented
  • Ensure all monthly curriculum training is completed in a timely manner along with bespoke training such as medical gas, bloods, Pat slide, and that Health and Safety passports are completed annually
  • Provide site accountant with all additional service requests by the client to ensure sufficient hours are charged
  • Identify all risks relevant to Service and complete risk assessments where appropriate
  • Actively promote and demonstrate CARES values and Focus on Five
  • Provide management information for inclusion in the monthly report in a timely and accurate manner.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Experience of managing a large team working in a multi department setting
  • Good communication and Interpersonal skills
  • SIA Front line Security licenced (Ideally to Door supervisor level)
  • Understanding and appreciation of the Hospital environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure and prioritise work load
  • IT Literate with knowledge of Excel and Word programmes
  • Familiar with Medical gas handling procedures and techniques

Desirable

  • Completed conflict management, restraint and breakaway training
  • SIA CCTV Licenced
  • IOSH trained and experienced in completing risk assessments
  • Familiar with Medical gas handling procedures and techniques
  • Knowledge of Time management systems

Band A

37.5 hours per week, flexibility is a must.
