Job Introduction

Role Responsibility

  • To assist in implementing and maintaining the prompt and efficient preparation and service of all meals and breaks at the required time, being provided to the standard of the food service offer(s) and laid down in the Service Level Agreement and to the Client's, Customer's and Sodexo’s satisfaction.
  • To ensure that all food is prepared with due care and attention, particularly in regard to customers’ special dietary requirements: for example, nut, dairy or wheat allergies.
  • To assist in implementing and maintaining the service for all Hospitality related activities, production service, clear down
  • To report and, where possible, take action for any incidents of accident, fire, loss, theft, damage, unfit food, or any other irregularities
  • To attend meetings and training courses as required.

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • Ability to achieve and set standards and operate to performance criteria, with particular regard to hygiene
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to verbally communicate effectively with customers, clients, and staff
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate
  • Literate and numerate

Desirable

  • 5706/2 or NVQ2 chef qualification, or equivalent

Package Description

We are currently looking for an Assistant Chef to work at our site in Port Sunlight.  The role will involve working in one of our catering outlets as part of a team in this busy Catering Facility.

 

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • To work closely with our Head Chef and Catering Manager within a well established Catering team providing high quality cuisine within one of our staff  restaurants or within our central production unit on site.
  • To work closely with the Head Chef planning menus for each of the Catering locations on site as you will rotationally work in each of them.
  • To assist in planning, control and monitoring of all aspects of production including stock levels, rotation, food cost and quality control.
  • To work with our head Chef and have some responsible for training new kitchen staff within the Catering units.
  • To adhere to all company policies and to be aware of all Health & Safety Regulations within the role.
  • Attending company training programmes as and when required.

 

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Role requires excellent organisational and planning skills along with along with a good knowledge of food cost and budgetary control.
  • Excellent communication skills are required both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work under pressure and work to deadlines is essential.
  • The person we are looking for must be a good team player and have a sense of humour plus be able to interact well with customer and within the current team.
  • The ideal candidate must have flair, innovation, commitment and flexibility plus have a passion for food and be committed at all times to exceed customer expectations.
