Chef de Partie (Boarding House Chef)
Job Introduction
This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your culinary career. As the Boarding House Chef (Chef De Partie), you will prepare and deliver fresh food for up to 55 boys within one of Etons boarding houses. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Chef to develop skills within a small operation that has excellent facilities including a newly re-furbished kitchen. Working closely with our customers, you will become part of the house and join in with celebrations and sports to build good relationships and create a home from home.
This role works 6 days per week for 36 weeks per year (Term time) and is a mixture of early and late shifts, including 5.6 weeks paid holiday
Role Responsibility
- Delivery of freshly cooked food for a boarding house, serving breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks for up to 55 students, ensuring high standards of quality and customer service.
- Ensure consistency of service and standards within the house, implementing service improvement and creative solutions where required
- Effectively work across both Sodexo and Eton College teams to build profitable long term relationships and support the college objectives
- Work with Chefs to ensure all food is prepared fresh and to a high standard as per service level agreement, Company policy and current legislation.
- Establish and maintain satisfactory relationships with individuals at all levels within the Company and the Client organisation.
- Implement and maintain the Statutory and Company standards of hygiene, health and safety and take any action as is necessary.
The Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience in a Chef role, ideally with experience of boarding houses or equivalent environment ideal
- Experienced within the catering industry, ideally from a Schools, Hotels or equivalent background
- Strong craft background and a flair & passion for good food
- Flexibility to meet varying customer requirements, a strong customer focus and great social skills
- Able to problem solve, find creative solutions, be proactive in identifying risks and take mitigating action with the other stakeholders.
- Good financial awareness
- Good administrative skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of Food Hygiene and Health & Safety
