Catering Supervisor/Team Lead - (Maternity Cover)

Job Introduction

We are currently seeking a Catering Supervisor to join our team within one of our Cork sites. This is a great opportunity for a customer focused individual to join a world leading food and facilities management company, which can offer unrivalled opportunities for career progression.

We are looking for someone with excellent organisational skills, the ability to prioritise their workload and have the ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.

You will be working as part of a team but you will be expected to work independently and under your own initiative.

Role Responsibility

  • To work with the Catering Manager to execute a robust and dynamic offer in order to meet the contract commercial requirements
  • To provide a food service to the agreed standards in accordance with the Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators specified in the service contract
  • Strategic planning, co-ordination, implementation and improvement of service delivery systems from an operational perspective.
  • To build an effective working relationship with all staff to ensure efficient delivery of the food services required.
  • Responsible for all aspects of food management within the catering, hospitality and retail areas.
  • To take adequate steps to ensure the security of Company and Client property and monies under your control.
  • Ensure the Company’s accountancy documentation and administration procedures are carried out to the Sodexo Way Compliance Standards and that the necessary weekly and monthly returns are completed accurately and transmitted at the appointed time.
  • Ensure that all costs and expenditure are within the budgeted levels agreed between the Client and Sodexo.  Control all costs such as labour, expenses, cash purchases as agreed with your line manager and to report on financial figures
  • Support and utilize Sodexo business systems i.e. recipe online
  • Recruit, manage, induct, train motivate and appraise staff to promote good employee relations and operate within company procedures, legislation and Excellence through People standards.
  • Motivate and lead catering employees to perform their roles to a high standard and in alignment to Sodexo policies and procedures. 
  • Plan and control holidays within the operation to 'self cover' where practicable.
  • Ensure all key roles across all services are fully staffed at all times and arranging cover where necessary.
  • Maintain training records for all staff, ensuring that individual needs are recognised and met either through on or off the job training.
  • Ensure that all Sodexo employees project a positive, approachable, friendly and professional image.
  • Comply with and ensure the health and safety, environmental, quality and food safety policy is adhered to and all unit personnel are aware of the policies and their responsibility for its implementation.
  • Hold weekly team huddle meetings using the Company Team Brief format. 
  • To attend an annual PDR with your Line Manager and to agree and take ownership of your PDR and your training and development needs.
  • To actively enforce relevant statutory, company and site, Food Safety, Occupational Health and Safety compliance, COSHH regulations together monitoring of related equipment.
  • To ensure that all Food safety and  Health & Safety procedures, manuals, issues and paperwork are kept up to date and dealt with efficiently.
  • Attend to and take all necessary action, statutory or otherwise, in the event of incidents or accident, fire theft, loss, damage, unfit food or other irregularities and take such action as may be appropriate.
  • To maintain company quality control procedures.
  • To attend regular management meetings, appropriate training courses, conferences, meetings as directed by the company or client.
  • Comply with any reasonable instruction from your line manager within the agreed deadline.
  • To continue to develop ones own skills and knowledge within the position.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate for this role will have

  • Proven experience in working in the food service, catering and/or hospitality industry and leading a team.
  • Industry acumen and knowledge of catering developments & innovations
  • Good understanding of budget management
  • Experience in supervising a team
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Experienced in adhering to and driving company initiatives.
  • Experience working in a standards compliance environment
  • Relevant qualification and training and IT literate
