Food & Beverage Supervisor

Job Introduction

We currently have an opportunity for a Catering Supervisor to join our team. This is a great opportunity for a customer focussed individual with good all round experience to join a world leading food and facilities management company.

The ideal candidate will already be working in a supervisory role and preferably have experienced in the following areas:

  • Starred hotel or formal restaurant dining
  • Conferencing and Events
  • Bar and Hospitality services

Role Responsibility

  • To supervise the provision of food and beverage services to ensure it meets the quality standards determined by the Client through the Contract, SLAs and QAA, and as directed by the General Manager.
  • Support the Catering Manager in developing the departmental Standard Operation Procedures for the food and beverage services.
  • To assist with the implementation of all cleaning schedules for the hospitality areas and to monitor for compliance.
  • To assist with the delivery of the food and beverage services in line with allocated budgets, to meet profit margins as directed and to offer ‘value for money’ to client and customer.
  • To assist with the control of stock to ensure minimum levels of stock are held in a safe and secure condition, yet all commitments can be met. Ensure stock rotation and food safety processes are adhered to.
  • Support the Catering Manager with the training of the catering staff, ensuring they are developed in order to deliver the best possible service to customers and staff remains motivated and rewarded.
  • Ensure the Bar, Restaurant & Conference departments are staffed adequately according to the needs of the business & in line within budgets constraints.
  • To process staff wages in absence of Catering Manager
  • To assist with the monthly checks and inventory on all equipment & ensure the day to day F&B operation is adequately equipped for every shift and/or event.
  • To support the Catering Manager with the food and beverage provision as required for special events.
  • To raise purchase orders using nominated suppliers in line with departmental budget in the absence of the Catering Manager
  • Create a team environment which promotes good employee morale and ensures a high level of commitment and pride in the department and the Learning and Conference Centre.
  • Ensure effective communication within the team by holding regular briefing sessions, weekly communication meetings and attending meetings and training as required.
  • To assist with the provision and the maintenance of all vending.
  • Assist the catering Manager in dealing with related HR issues such as disciplinary, grievance and recruitment in line with Sodexo policy.
  • To carry out the Duty Manger role as per roster.

The Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate for this role will have:

Essential

  • Ability to motivate a highly skilled team
  • Ability to communicate effectively both up and down the chain of command
  • Good understanding of computer office software packages
  • Basic Food Hygiene Certificate

Desirable

  • Innovative approach to work with a drive to continually develop the services
  • Intermediate Food and Hygiene Certificate
