Anglican Chaplain (part time)

As our part time Anglican Chaplain you will help to ensure that the diverse religious and spiritual needs of the prison community are met.

Role Responsibility

  • Promote and encourage the observance of religious faith and be a focus of unity within a diverse setting.
  • Complete generic duties ie visiting daily new receptions, prisoners in the hospital wing and in the Care and Separation Unit daily or as necessary, and responding to applications from prisoners
  • Lead and participate in Chapalincy prayer and study groups
  • Liaise with outside Faith leaders and agencies and encourage volunteer involvement with Chaplaincy activities.
  • Be prepared to work as a team member encouraging and supporting other members of the Chaplaincy team.
  • Play a full part in the prison’s work, education and recreational activities.
  • Be prepared to lead Sunday services as and when required.

  • Highly motivated, inspirational person
  • Excellent listener and communicator
  • Have a non-judgemental, calm and confident approach
  • Be able to work with vulnerable and challenging individuals.
  • Formally ordained in Church of England

Desirable

  • Be able to provide short term counselling and care for prisoners, their families, and staff of all faiths and none

Package Description

£14,670 + benefits including free onsite parking, free on duty meals, Gym useage, pension, group discount schemes etc
